“I will not enter my house or go to my bed—
I will allow no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids,
till I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
Theme for this term is: Going places we've never been
Have you ever wished to live as Captain America or Iron man? Your work, studies and relationships are a bit dull. There is a side of you that would like to embark on a Avenger like mission. Though you realize this is fiction, there is still a part of you that longs to go beyond the natural realm. If you aspire to live a supernatural life above your present circumstances the theme for this term has a definitive word for you. In Matthew 5:17–48, Jesus urges you and me to boldly go where we have never gone before. In these verses, Jesus helps us understand how the commands of the Old Testament apply to our lives. In short, Jesus says, “We must go above and beyond.”
We are Young Adults who love God and each other. We believe that we are ambassadors for God’s kingdom and therefore have a vision to reach our community, nation and nations with the good news of His kingdom.
Mission (How we are going to get there)
- Grow and Equip people to maturity in Christ
History Makers creates opportunities for people to be taught about growing in their character and relationship with God.
- Connect people in meaningful relationships and life groups
We believe that believers grow the best when they are surrounded and supported by like-minded people. We therefore create a platform where people from different cultures and backgrounds can connect, grow and serve together.
- Mobilize people in History Makers to live their God given calling
We believe every believer has a God given calling that needs to be identified and developed. We therefore encourage all young adults to get involved in serving and ministering so that they can discover and nurture their gifts and calling
History Makers Values: (Who we are)
Our vision keeps us going but our values keep us together
At History Makers, we have five non-negotiable core values. Our values create a practical blueprint of how we live our lives.
Our values are:
Word based- building our lives on God’s word
The Word of God is absolute truth, (John 17:17)
The Word of God is the highest authority in our lives (2 Timothy 3:16)
We are committed to reading, studying and living the Word. (Colossians 3:16, 1 Peter 2:1-3)
Spirit Led- obeying the person of the Holy Spirit
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, (Acts 2:38)
We embrace the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, (John 16:13)
We are led by the Holy Spirit in every aspect of our lives, (Romans 8:14)
We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are fully functional, (1 Corinthians 12)
Family Founded- committing ourselves to building Godly families
We commit ourselves to God’s design for marriage and family in every way, (Colossians 3:18-21)
We choose to commit ourselves to build relationships with other believers and make every effort to keep these relationships alive, (Ephesians 4:3)
We embrace believers from all culture, nations and languages as family, (Galatians 3:28-29)
Mission minded- choosing a life of sacrifice for the kingdom of God
We are not here for ourselves, (Matthew 16:24)
We commit ourselves to adopt a going mentality, (Matthew 28:19)
We allow our God given gifts and talents to be developed and commit ourselves to walking in our God given calling, (Romans 12:1)
Christ Centered- living our lives to worship Him
